I will admit that I preferred my ginger maple cake at the Café at the Frick, but I’d have to try every dessert on the menu at Gullifty’s to give my full opinion. I think that’s why this guy looks so serious….cause this is some serious pie. Unfortunately all the desserts were stacked tightly inside a fridge, but I did manage to snap a shot of one of the chefs with the famous ten pound apple pie thanks to the kind hostess. Article contentĪs we were leaving my aunt mentioned to the hostess that it was a shame their dessert display case was broken since I was writing a blog and wanted to take some photos. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Too dramatic? Well, then you’ve never come home to fresh toll house cookies straight from the oven. Seriously, desserts can make or break a meal, or even a day or even a party. My aunt tells me that the “best desserts in Pittsburgh” title is more of a tradition now than anything, but still, great desserts are very crucial in my life and I wanted to see how good they really were. So, the dinner was fine, but I was really looking forward to the dessert, since of course this was supposedly the best place in Pittsburgh for a sweet tooth like me. I also ordered a starter green salad, which was not exactly memorable.I think I should have just stuck with the perogies…silly me for trying to be “healthy”. I mean, who doesn’t love a good perogie? They were pretty enjoyable and fairly tasty, but I think I’m just having a hard time adjusting to the huge portion sizes in the USA in general. Since Pittsburgh is known for its great Eastern European fare I decided to order the perogies. So, with that said, I found our dinner just average. Also, I love to cook and bake…it has become a bit of a passion of mine, so I’m pretty critical when I go out to a restaurant.

We have food from every culture you can imagine, lots of restaurants that serve fresh, local organic goods and just a heck of a lot of great places to eat. Now, first of all I should say that I think I’ve become a bit of a food snob after living in Vancouver. Vancouver Sun Run: Sign up & event info.

He said returning to the Jimmy’s for a second year will be fun because he knows what to expect.Īs he goes to college and pursues his professional acting dream, Justin said he will always have his memories of performing in shows, having fun with friends, and growing as both a person and performer at CATA. Justin’s win at the Blumeys earns him a trip to New York this month to compete in the Jimmy Awards, which brings together the nation’s top high school theatre students. “It has never happened before so it was definitely a shocker.” Justin’s chilling portrayal of the demon barber earned him his second straight Best Actor in a Musical award at the Blumey Awards, an event that recognizes high school theatre programs in the Charlotte area. Justin said his favorite role at CATA was playing the head nun in House of Blue Leaves because he “could truly let loose and be the crazy person I am.” That fun and energetic role was a stark contrast to his most recent role as the murderous Sweeney Todd. After college, Justin plans to start his career as a professional actor. It was that perspective that led him to want to continue his education, ultimately getting accepted at Point Park University in Pittsburgh where he will study musical theatre this fall. Looking back, Justin said he remembers how hard his mother worked and the sacrifices she made for him and their family.
